No one is too young to change the world.” – Natalie Warne
Could I be a good fit for your child?
At every age, children can be faced with life’s challenges. I see children ages 10 and up (I will see a little younger on a case-by-case basis). The following are some of the scenarios and concerns that I work with that can impact a child’s mental health and well-being:
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Trauma
- Grief
- ADHD
- The gifted/gifted-identified journey
- Family members with physical or mental illness
- Moving, attending a new school, other life changes
- Divorce- *treatment only. I do not provide custody evaluations or legal testimony. I am happy to provide a list of resources available if these services are what you need.
Older children and teens are beginning to have more complex interactions with their peers and the world around them, but thoughts and feelings can still be concrete, and are often overwhelming. Maintaining appearances and the opinions of others can increase in importance, and developing a sense of autonomy while facing concerns like anxiety, depression, ADHD, or trauma can be that much more complicated. Establishing trust in the therapeutic relationship can take longer but is especially important here, as is fostering resiliency at an even higher level. I provide a safe space and multiple avenues for older kids and teens to work through their feelings and the concerns they may be having about themselves and/or their relationships, while finding ways to develop a more flexible-but-stable identity that doesn’t feel restricting; one that emphasizes their strengths and positive growth.
